Recommendations on Supporting Veterans to Be Presented to Universities

The Alliance of Ukrainian Universities has developed a package of practical materials that will help higher education institutions build systematic support for veterans and members of their families. The developments will be presented on 11 November during an open online presentation. The organisers said this in a press release for “Vchysia.Media”

WHAT THE PACKAGE OF MATERIALS INCLUDES

The package includes a framework veterans policy, the self-assessment tool “A Veteran-Friendly University” and methodological recommendations for it. The policy can serve as the basis for developing a university's own document, while the tool and recommendations will help assess existing practices, identify gaps and prepare a plan for further action.

The materials also collect examples of how the Alliance's universities work with the veteran community:

• the activities of veterans' offices,
• the implementation of projects,
• the holding of events,
• other initiatives to support veterans and members of their families.

Representatives of universities and other educational institutions, as well as veterans' and civil society organisations that already work with the veteran community or plan to develop this area, are invited to take part in the presentation.

During the meeting, the organisers will explain how to use the developments. Representatives of Sumy State University will tell how they developed their own policy on the basis of the framework document. The Manifesto on the introduction of systematic support for veterans at universities in Ukraine will also be presented, along with how to join it. Time has been set aside separately for discussion and answers to questions.

The presentation will take place on 11 November 2026 from 16:00 to 17:30 on Zoom. To take part, you need to register.
